Google Voice Typing Issue

Whenever I try to use Google Voice Typing on my Nexus 7 (stock/rooted JB) it makes the sound like I can start speaking and the screen starts to pop up but it instantly disappears. This happens if I select Google Voice Typing from the notifications pane or from within Swift Key 3. I tried the same thing on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus (stock/rooted JB) and there are no problems.

I've searched all around and can't find anything.

Thoughts?
