Google Voice Voicemail & Emails

I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue, but I tried setting my voicemail to go Google Voice through the settings which it did it automatically. However I would not get emails for hours, it was not until I changed it back to my carrier's voicemail that I would start receiving emails again. I'm running the N1 not rooted, original firmware, with the new ota update.
