Am I missing something? I don't exactly see the benefit of using the Google Wallet card over my debit card. Well other than having a Google branded card in my wallet looking a lot cooler than my regular debit card😀 But the only way to get money into my wallet balance without being charged fees, is to send it from my checking account. Why is this better than my debit card?

I agree. I don't see any benefits to using the Google Wallet card over a regular bank debit card.

My question is, "Does it work like Google Wallet?" I never have a balance on my Google Wallet Account. I use my phone to pay at McDonalds and my AMEX is the selected card. The transaction comes out of my AMEX. So does that mean when I swipe this card at McDonalds, will I be declined or will it come out of my AMEX? If it is the latter...then Google has done a very poor job in explaining it.

From what I can tell, your card would be declined unless you had funds in your wallet balance. Pretty useless.

So, I did a test. I took my Google Wallet Card and swiped it using my Square. I got declined. Attached below is the message I got via e-mail from Google. It appears that the Google Wallet Card is not linked to your credit or debit cards. What my test shows that it is truly a "prepaid" card. Therefore, this card will never get used by me. I am not interested in moving funds from my bank account to my Google Wallet Card. What I was hoping was that I could link my credit & debit card (primarily my AMEX so I could get points). However, that looks like it will not happen.

Yeah that's what I thought would happen. I seriously don't see the point for it at all. It just adds an extra step.
