Google Wallet from Lock Screen?

Hello all...used Google Wallet for the 1st time and was so excited...thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now, I know you must wake the phone's screen before touching your phone to the credit card sensor, but when I used it, I happened to not have any security set up for my phone...

My question is, does anyone know, if you do indeed have a lock on your phone, whether it be a pin or password or pattern or face unlock, once you wake up your screen, will Google Wallet open right on top of the lock screen, or do you also have to do the added step of actually unlocking your phone, before it can work?

You do have to unlock your screen first since the app will execute requiring you to enter your pin.

you have to unlock the screen first because the nfc service doesn't run unless unlocked. not because you need a pin...
