Google just updated google wallet, installed on my verizon droid maxx. havnt tested the nfc stuff yet

It wont let me install it.

But now that we have root we should be able to get a working google wallet. Anyone have luck sideloading it?

if your talking about the new google wallet that works with all phones, it doesnt support NFC on the maxx. just sending payments via email

I sideloaded it on my Verizon Galaxy Note 2 that is not rooted. It just keeps giving me an unrecoverable error where the app can reset my pin to the new pin system. I ended up uninstalling it.

UPDATE: So I decided to reinstall the app but I rebooted the phone first. After it booted again, sideloaded the app and it started working. Still no NFC though.

Google Wallet without NFC payment method = Gmail, because all you can do with it is email your payments and gmail does that already

I declined the update because I don't want to bork the modified apk on the GNex. Unless someone does some tweaking, we're not see Google Wallet on the Droids or the Moto X (at least not Verizon's version).

google wallet is now in the play store. they are really pushing loyalty cards. i was able to install it and add a card. haven't been able to test the nfc payment yet though. there is a list of supported devices for NFC payment and the droid maxx is not one of them. :-(

I was under the impression that there was some kind of hardware missing that was needed for security? If so, no petition is going to get past that issue.
