They don't really want this. It they did, they would have from the start. They are only responding to market forces. Don't get me wrong, it is a pro-consumer move, but don't be fooled into thinking they are doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.

They clearly haven't done much for repairability of the Pixel watch.

If only there were a water repellent flexible compound that could be sandwiched in the edges of the phone to keep water out. Maybe it could even extend beyond the edges to provide drop protection. Such a tough issue to solve.
