I think some people are a bit anal... how you could choose an old phone over a new phone and the cost involved because the icons supposedly look better is beyond my understanding...

It's basically the same phone IMO. If you don't use the fingerprint scanner or heart rate monitor, there isn't much difference. You can even get a HR monitor from the playstore on any phone with a flash.
