Got cellular data but no connection

So I have this weird problem with OnePlus 2. It says I have cellular data (4g, LTE, H+) but when I try to use my browser, or any other app that needs internet, it says no connection. I then try to reboot the phone, I get connection and everything works, but only for about 20 secs and then it goes back to saying no connection. I then try to turn on wifi hotspot to see if another device can get connection using the phones internet, and yes the other device can get connection to the internet but the phone still does not have connection.

Things have tried:
-Checked if access point settings are correct (they are)
-Rebooted the device (get connection for about 20 secs and then gone again)
-tried a different sim card (does not work)
-Tested sim card in a different phone (sim card works fine)
- the phone can get connection through wifi (only cellular data does not work)

Well, you have done some good troubleshooting. I would have guessed the sim card, but you already checked with a new one and old in the different phone.
So. Last choice is backup and a factory reset.
If that doesn't work, sounds like it's a hardware issue

Yeah I was afraid that was my last option

It just seems weird that it is a hardware problem as I have connection for 20 secs every time I reboot.

I had same issue.. it wasnt even taking calls.. here's how it was fixed.. i turned off phone ,took out sim and put it firmly in its place again .. without putting back cover i turned on phone while still holding sim in its place.. it worked.. issue was connection in b/w sim and phone

Just try once might help
