got my daughter an s7 on thursday. she dropped it....

Insurance would have been helpful but buying a decent case with a built in screen protector alongside the purchase of your daughter's S7 would have helped in advance.

I bought mine full price, cash a few weeks ago and never got insurance. I do have a case though. Phone insurance is way too expensive over time and rarely gets used. Then you get hit with the high deductible.

I generally agree, but these new Samsung phones seem exceptionally fragile (not really surprising, with all the glass) and a screen replacement seems to cost $300 to $350. I decided on the Samsung Protect plan. It doesn't cover loss or theft, but the deductible is only $79. The plan is $129 for two years of coverage.

if it were me and i cracked the back, i'd slap a skin on it....

that is genius!

If it were me.....I'd slap the skin on it BEFORE it cracked. I have an S5, and just love the look of the carbon fiber, so I slapped a skin on THAT.

I'm debating the S7 Edge (or holding out for the Note 6, because I'm afraid I'll REALLY want that once it comes) and I'll likely put a carbon fiber skin on the back of it. Maybe go with a color, I just like the options
