So ever since the Iphone has come out, I've wanted one!! AT&T coverage doesn't work well in areas we need it though, so I couldn't get one.

Got myself an Ipod Touch a couple of years ago, but found myself without WI-FI coverage too much to be able to use it for internet use.

So last year, got a Palm Pre, was happy with it, but it was by no means as cool as the all awesome IPhone!!

Got my Epic a couple of days ago, and I no longer have any desire for an IPhone!!!! This thing is AWESOME!!! I prefer Androids 7 home screens that you can customize and the Live Wallpapers are extremely cool!!!

Now, I'm no tech geek, I'm probably your average consumer, I'm a 37 year old wife and mother of 3 kids.....I have a decent understanding of computers, but rooting (or homebrewing on the Pre) is all over my head, and I have no desire to do that.....but I am soooooooooooooo happy that I finally feel like I have the phone that I want!!!

Isn't it great to have the phone you want instead of pining after it? I too wanted an iPhone for a while, but now that I see how great Android is the closest I'll probably get to having an iPhone is having an iPad (if the 2nd gen impresses me) :D

Awesome! Great to hear! I liked iPhones too until I got my Droid back in March. Have a Fascinate now and it is a dream. I was scared to root but doing it increased my battery life a ton. :D Even without it though, yes, iPhone's app store has majority of apps as paid and i hate that you can't have backgrounds (except for your lock screen). Android is muuuch better.

I'm an iPhone convert. I got one back in the day when they first came out, I think I got it in 2007/2008 because I saw it and was like that is awesome - I've always been into gadget stuff so a buttonless phone seemed awesome. Always said I wanted a touch screen phone. Anyways after having the original I got the 3gs and that was a major upgrade. However once android hit att I wanted the nexus one and have been saving for one ever since. Now I ended up getting the epic 4g, might go to Verizon or at&t when they get lte

Basically though you did the right thing I love my new phone and wouldn't trade it for the iphone 4 unless it came with an extra 400$ rather than me pay them. My grandpa got iphone 4 and a week late3r I got my epic and put his phone to shame although he still thinks his phone is better but he doesn't know any better

It's funny to me how tiny the iPhone seems now that I've had my Epic for a few months.

I fell the same way with my Fascinate. The 4" screen is the prefect size IMO. I'm happy I didn't wait for the iPhone to come to Verizon.

i know. my dad still has an iphone 3g and i use it every now and then when he needs help or whatever. and its so thin and tiny.

i really dont mind the size. we have a keyboard afterall. in comparison to the evo its a little longer and a mm thicker. so thats not bad for having a keyboard.
by far the best phone available.
And what i love about sprint is that after a year we can upgrade again, because we are "premium customers"

However, in a year if verizon and AT&T get LTE going, i might sign up for one or the other as thats what my parents use and id probably hop on the family plan. Right now their still on AT&T but they dont have any good android devices - maybe the captivate (but i heard it was very plasticy and cant install apps downlaoded from the computer) or the Nexus one (but its discontinued for ATT and i think it is now outdated - wouldve been nice a year ago.) So hopefully when their contracts are up i can convince them to sign up with verizon as i originally wanted to join verizon but my credit is shot and im perfectly fine with sprint for the time being.
My plan was to go with sprint cuz they already have their 4g and when Verizon gets theirs maybe switch to them
That brings up the problem of tiered data plans - so well just have to wait and see.
Sorry for such a long post haha

I feel the same way. Except I am a tech junkie. :-) for the first time in my life, I don't want an iphone.

I'm no tech guru by any no means as well & I love my Epic. I was speaking w/a coworker who noted that her bill ~$130 for an iphone. This confirmed that my choice of the Epic was the right one. In addition, she noted that she spent 10min of FaceTime (video chat svc), which came to approx 500mb of service

Coming from BB World, I am amazed at all of the features that the Epic/Android has. I have been in a BB bubble. Glad I have seen the light.

Regarding the yearn fro the iphone, I always wanted one, but would not ever switch to AT&T, unless they actually paid me. I have the ipod touch, really like it, and use it for some apps - games, books, music, etc. I don't want to hog all of the Epic's memory w/certain apps. So, although it requires WiFi, I do have a need for both the ipod & Epic. Once we get 2.2, I wonder if I will use the ipod as much as we can put apps on the SD card.

Your friends 500mb of data means absolutely nothing. I say this because in order fo face chat you need to be on wifi.

Also music and stuff is stored on sd card so that doesn't matter either. How many apps do you have? The epic has plenty of memory for apps if you actually are close to filling it then excuse me.

If you don't mind sharing how much memory have you used?
Hold home to access task manager. Click on summary under storage look ay program, I used about 2/5 so I have plenty. And if I need room I got a bunch of apps I don't need that I install Just to see

I have quite a few apps, but many I can in fact delete. I get a little confused w/determining how much available memory I have remaing. When I go to Task Manager n viwe Summary, my RAM stays about 250-280mb of the 325 available. Program is at 319mb/498.

I thought the RAM was for the multitasking & ROM was for the actual apps.

Regarding music, I have 16gb of music on my ipod & I actually use most of it - depending on my mood. I like the Kindle & eReader on the iPod (since I carry the ipod, i might as well utilize the 32gb of space). Although I need wifi to sync the books, I that's something that I can keep on the ipod.

yeah your right about the ram and rom thing.
ram is random access memory and rom is read only memory.

Well, as a person. Who has had an iPhone, you aren't missing anything. But I do know what it is like to want an iPhone and not be able to have one. For years I had a BlackBerry on Sprint and wanted the iPhone. I switched carriers and got one. I kept it for about three months. I liked it, but the allure of it had definitely worn off. Once I got my first Android device, I realized that the iPhone really wasn't that great of a device. If I could go back, I would have switched to Verizon and gotten the Droid. I would have been much happier.
