OK, I'm home with my brand new shiny Droid X............now what? Lol, seriously though, I kinda feel like I have 7 thumbs and half a brain. This is going to be an adjustment, but I know I'm going to love this phone! :)

Z4 root the phone and go from there. One thing I got was launcherpro. Much better then motorola blur launcher.

I also just picked up a Droid X this week with a 1 year contract. Switched from an old 8330. I love this phone. I should have grabbed this phone months ago instead of trying to hold out for a worthwhile blackberry that seems like it will never come.

Im not really a computer wiz, so I am not really interested in rooting at this time. What exactly does launcher pro offer that Motoblur doesnt?

z4root, Clockwork Backup and backup everything first and then ADW Launcher EX is the way to go for me.

Relax.....get to know the phone for a few days huh?! yeah! It isn't broke....

Mine is on the way and will be here tomorrow.

I finally got tired of my Storm 2. I went the Certified Pre Owned route. $99 is hard to beat. Thought about waiting for the Bionic but my wife would never get one and LTE won't be in my area for a long time. So the two main reasons for getting one (4g and video chat) are kind of non issues.

I can't wait to get my new DX rooted, sped up, and tweaked out. This is going to be fun:p

Go to youtube and search for Droid X videos. You'll see a bunch of stuff you can do with the phone as well as some great apps. It's a good crash coarse on Android.

I'd recommend installing LauncherPro (there is a video about it) right away. Makes the phone run much smoother than the Motorola UI.

I agree that its best to leave it alone for a few days while you get to know what its capable of. Keept reading the forums and definitly check out youtube.

Thanks for the info, I bought Launcher Pro and LOVE it. Not planning on rooting it anytime soon, still trying to learn to use it stock, lol!

I'm going to go the same direction once my DX arrives today. Put a few apps on, a new launcher, spend a few days getting used to it.............. Then put Liberty on it. (I hate bloat and this rom seems to really clean up the entire experience)

Launcher Pro is the way to go. I took several months before I rooted and started flashing roms. It's good to know the phone first. There is no rush. There are a few links in my signature that you might find helpful if you haven't found them yet. Congrats on your new phone!

I'm just thrilled to death that there are so many custom roms available. Unlike with my Storm 2 where I was having to make hybrids by swapping out .cod files just to get my f**king clock to work....

This is going to be fun.

Launcher Pro>ADW Launcher...=)

who wants pages for the apps to flip through? i would rather have one big page to scroll through.

droid x is a great phone, like everyone else says... just spend some time getting to know it before you decide to root.
