I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm (patiently) waiting a little longer, simply because I don't want to have to do that. I'd like to think they'd fix the problem. "Be the first to test/checkout all the new features of preview editions before the general public, then be the last (if at all) to get the final, finished version.".Okay I'm a glutton for punishment. I un-enrolled from the beta, wiped the phone, reinstalled Nougat, re-enrolled in the beta, and am now down loading the final version of Oreo 8.0
Jeezus does it really have to be this hard ...
If you bothered to reload Nougat why didn't you just load the final bits for Oreo? Seems like it would have been a more direct approach.reinstalled Nougat, re-enrolled in the beta, and am now down loading the final version of Oreo 8.0

Let's not confuse your time line with Google's - I'm willing to bet that if you waited a month or so you'd indeed be able to select 'Check for update' and your device would find the update and install it. If you're in a rush then you're welcome to explore the two alternative paths (join Beta; flash manually) to get it right away.Let's not defend inefficiency. A more direct approach would've been to tap software update and the final version loaded.

Let's also assume that checking for an update and actually getting one is the exception that proves the rule. I'm on DP4 and in the beta program, and I have now, on Day 6, given up on checking for updates manually. That's all I did. Day 1, I hit update, waited for about 30sec, download started, final version, updated and no issues.
Were you in the beta program when you did that? Also, where are you located and what network? That's all I did. Day 1, I hit update, waited for about 30sec, download started, final version, updated and no issues.

I definitely think your the exception. After trying to manually update on several occasions to no avail (oh, except the fact that it sent me an update for Nougat because I was (supposedly) no longer in the beta. What???), I'm just going to chill and wait till it happens...Yes, I had Beta DP4, and I am in the Seattle area on Verizon.

Did you wipe your system cache? I only found one absolute battery drain after the update and that was Facebook Groups, which I no longer use anyway,so immediately uninstalled. Keep an eye out for those rogue apps.Anyone else seeing battery life issues?
I was on the Beta with no issues other than some minor stability weirdness. I got the update less than an hour after it was announced. It was a short update and didnt see anything majorly different. Until today. My battery was drained by noon. I had a standby time of about 7 hours but screen-on time of only 49 MIN!!!
I've been on beta for a while and still haven't received it yet. My wife's 5x did though....we're on Project Fi.
