GPS issues with HTC ONE X

Agreed. The never getting a lock on any satellite would seem to indicate you have an issue. The HOX has been great for me on GPS. The 60m accuracy you were seeing was due to your wifi I suspect, and the reason Nav never opens, is because you are never getting an actual GPS fix (just the aGPS general loc). I think you have a faulty device :(.

Hello everyone. I've been busy some days with other stuff, but meanwhile I've tested with GPS Status app for the last few days.
When you look at the pictures attached here, you will see that, good or bad, I actually got some fixes on sats. Most of the fixes lasted between 5-10 minutes, then changed again to no fixes and no satellites found. On other occasions, I had 7 to 8 sats showing, but no fix on any of them. And that didn't last long, so I was unable to take a screenshot fast enough...

I do believe in my own humble opinion that when I got the most fixes, it was when the weather was actually good, meaning, less clouds and sunny. Although all of you seem to indicate that the weather should not be the cause, I found in my tests that this very well made a difference. I may be wrong here, but for me those are just the facts right now.

On the other hand, if you guys get stronger signals and more fixes inside a building with bad weather, I believe it to be fair to say, yes, I have faulty device.:(

I will however try to get hold of another HOX in the next days of a friend of mine and test that one with GPS Status and see what the results will be in comparison to mine.
In the meantime, if any of you have any other suggestions or comments, please let me know.
Tks to all of you for your support

Do you have this HOX in a case perchance?

Just asking because none of your brightness readings indicate a clear view of the sky.

Still, looks to me like yours has a pretty spotty GPS, and maybe you should seek a replacement.

All these screen shots were taken while driving. HOX affixed to HTC Car dock on front dashboard. Only the front windshield is between the phone and the sky. And I don't have a special windshield (front heating windshield or such) that would block any signals. My older navigation system works fine like that in this car, without a special antenna to be placed outside of the car. I had that problem with another car, but this one doesn't need the antenna anymore. What would be a normal brightness rate then?

I have a case, when my phone is not in the car dock. It's a simple case, soft, transparent material, easily removable, not covering the screen, and I don't have a screen protection either.
I don't suppose removing it often could have a potential bending effect damaging the innards of my phone (i.e. GPS functionality) !?

chendricks27 - I am experiencing the exact same behavior on my HTC One X. Earlier this week, I was in LA and tried using Google Maps Navigation but my phone could not get a lock on any GPS satellites. Did you ever get to resolve your issues? If so, would you be able to share your solution with me? Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem and it started when they updated the NAV app to Google Maps and the NAV app (Blue up-facing arrow head icon) went away. It worked perfectly with the blue arrow NAV app, so I don't believe there is anything wrong with the hardware. If I could find a way to roll back to the previous app, I would. Meanwhile, I'll call HTC and get their advice.

Found this in another post. Will try this evening:

"If you prefer the old Google Navigation rather than the updated Maps app that includes the Navigation all that is necessary is to go to the Play Store and search for Google Maps. When you locate it click uninstall and you will be prompted whether you want to uninstall all updates to the app. Answer yes and Voila! you have the old Google Navigation back once you exit the Play Store. "
