GPS issues

I'm having major issues with my GPS on my Fascinate. I have all the location options turned on in the Location & SEcurity settings. I've tried Google maps, VZW Navigator, and Bing Maps to no success. I've even tried factory resetting my phone. I've also tried downloading the GPS test and status apps on the market and still get no lock. About once a week I'll get lucky and get a GPS lock on google maps to have it not work the next day for a week or two. Any suggestions? If I root the phone are there any ROMs that will improve my GPS lock or any ROMs at all that could help my situation.

I mean no disrespect but you didn't mention if you're trying all of this outside. Some buildings are impenetrable.

As for other possible causes, I read about a physical modification that had some success with. It seemed to apply only to early fascinates; how old is yours? On some Fascinates there really was/is a physical problem.

You didn't mention if you're on froyo; I'm assuming yes. If not, try getting that.

Mine has minor issues with GPS: it takes about 1-5 min. to lock on but then once it does it's perfect. I'm running froyo and just bought it a few weeks ago.

Call the warranty center and complain. They should replace it for you fairly easily.

Mine does this as well, says searching for a signal when im standing outside in a parking lot.

how long should it take to find a gps signal?

Mine does the same; the only difference, however, is that I bought mine used off of ebay. When was the Fascinate released? I should still be under warranty?

Never mind, found out that, for some strange reason, you MUST purchase the phone personally from Verizon or another authorized retailer, even though the phone WAS purchased through Verizon initially and should still be under a year old...

i had the same problem with mine and flashed axura on it. it works perfectly fine now
