Not sure if it works with the Epic, but you may want to give it a try.

If you follow the links, Samsung says this is only for Vibrant and Captivate phones, which have different GPS hardware and firmware than the Epic does.

it is a standalone app thought it might work, just putting it out there for everyone.

It is deliberately not made available in the Market for any phones except the Vibrant and Captivate. And all the app does for them is restore some settings to their factory defaults. Just reading the links makes that clear.
