Gps keeps searching

I am curious if I am losing battery life because every time I wake up my GN the gps icon shows it searching for my location. My frustration is that I only have "let apps use gps" and not location services or location and google search checked. I can't figure out what program keeps triggering the gps every time I wake the phone up or is this something in ICS? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It may be an app you have that looks for your location alot?? I leave mine on all day but the only time I see the gps circle is when I use google maps or else it takes a while to lock which is annoying to me.. I believe thats my only location based app I use.. So check your apps..
