GPS navigation question...

I can verify that the X will lock onto satellites without a network connection, but there is a "quirk" whereby in Airplane mode the GPS is disabled (but the toggle still looks enabled). I'll probably throw together a more detailed description of how to survive outside the Verizon coverage area in a separate post, but here's some evidence courtesy of my BB Tour:

Google Maps will show this in the middle of a highway in southern Taiwan, you'll just have to trust that I rebooted my phone outside range of a wifi connection as part of my test :) Lock-on time varied from a few seconds to a few minutes, I don't think even in Taipei I saw as long as 10 minutes, but without network connectivity it's obviously much slower.

I run CoPilot Live 8.0 North of Bonham, Texas through Telephone, Texas. There is not 3g signal and I quickly loose Google Nav. CoPilot works great. It is on sale now for $10.00.

This thread has been interesting to me. I have a Droid and was just in Baja California for 2 weeks without any cellphone service. My GPS worked at first, but as time went on it was harder and harder to get it to work. Finally no combination of rebooting, turning on and off airplane mode, setting the time manually, would get it to work. I am very interested in finding a sequence that will absolutely get the GPS to work, even if it might take 10 minutes from a cold start.
