GPS not working...just searching

Edit: I know this was covered before, I searched forum, but didn't find anything specific regard a resolution.......

Morning all......

My daughter and I both have a Moto Droid and my GPS is working fine, however, her GPS isn't working on her Droid. When we open Maps, it cannot get a GPS fix. I downloaded GPS tester on both our phones to compare side by side. I am able to find and use 8-9 sats where she can only find 3-4 but won't use any of them. So her phone just hangs and says "searching for GPS"

I am in a clear open area, I have re-booted the phone. Neither phone is rooted. I seem to think, though not positive, that it stopped working when we got the 2.1 update. It was like 5 days between when we got our phones to the time 2.1 was pushed out.

Any suggestions?

3G service is on? I've noticed that it needs that, too, for some reason...and when I think it isn't working, when I hit the Locate Me button on the map menu, voila, it pops. Try those. Otherwise, maybe a bad unit?

Try a factory reset. Mine got hung up a few days ago. After about 20 minutes it caught a signal though.

Try *228 (call it via the dialer) option 1 before you try a factory reset. If all else fails (toggle GPS, power cycle Droid) that generally resolves it for me.
