I'm overall very happy with my G5, but I'm having some issues sigh the GPS not finding our location.

We are cycle touring and use the phone as a navigator but it seems to lose the signal quite often. We are in Switzerland so I could understand this because if the terrain but the same symptoms appeared when we were in Holland too. Our G4 however finds the GPS more quickly, doesn't seem to lose it as often and is more precise. While the G4 pinpoints us to an exact location the G5 will often have us in the wrong Street.

I've tried the various GPS settings but these haven't solved the issue.

Any ideas anyone?

If you're venturing out to places where there's a low count of cell towers ( ie places with a low population density), I would stay away from using any kind of phone (A-GPS) for direction.

Once that cell tower count drops you're bound to get a lot of mis-direction. I was out in California last year in the Mojave desert driving a rental with no navigation, and it was a big mistake relying on my phone. If you do this cycle touring often & looking for reliability,I would invest some money into getting a portable GPS you can wrap around on a bike handle.

I'm having GPS issues too, takes minutes to find a lock. My G4 takes seconds.

There's lots of posts on XDA forum relating to GPS issues, just unsure whether it's hardware or software.

Apart from that the phone is great. I'm in the UK by the way and phone is Vodafone.
