You can see from the screen shot the GPS was constantly on ALL DAY, even when I manually turn GPS off. I did a reset and everything seemed normal (see other screen shot). Now, as you can see, the last 2 hours the GPS has been on constantly and will not stop even when I turn off GPS.

I already did a full reset yesterday. Do I just need to take it to AT&T at this point? Will they swap it out in store if they think it's a hardware issue? Any other advice? This is frustrating.

And I made no changes to anything. Everything was normal today and all of a sudden the GPS won't turn off.

First congrats on getting normal battery usage at least 1 time lol.

Obviously it's a GPS ON problem. Can u figure out what installed app or widget is causing it?

After factory reset did u reinstall all your apps and widgets? Or did it bug out again with nothing installed?

If nothing was installed then hardware related return it.

If you reinstall all your stuff u are back to searching which one is bugging your GPS.

GOOD LUCK

When I restored, it worked normally for most of the day. This, after reinstalling my apps. Then tonight, the GPS wouldn't turn off. I made zero changes at all from the beginning of the day to the end.

I wonder if you have a rouge app? Which apps are you using that utilize gps?

Go Weather EX (uninstalled, problem continued)
Life360 (Uninstalled, problem continued)
Beautiful Widgets (just using a date widget, that's it)
Cerberus
ESPN Radio
Speed Test
iHeart Radio
Yahoo! Weather

All of these were in use earlier today when everything was fine.

I don't have many apps, as you can see. New to Android as of last week.

So, I just uninstalled every single app. The only apps on the phone now are stock apps. GPS is manually set to off, but still is listed as continuously on GPS On in the battery graph. Any ideas? Does this indicate a hardware issue?

You should take it back and get a new one.

And so now, the problem has stopped. I have no idea why an app would cause this...or which app.

That's what I'm doing now. But I did this 2 days ago and everything was fine, then it started again. And it doesn't make sense that even when I manually turn off GPS, that an app would keep it on. I just don't know if its hardware or software. I'm tired of trying to sort this out already. I wish AT&T would just do a swap.

why won't they swap? at this point a swap won't hurt you, but if it is software related it won't help either.

sometimes it is a combination of apps installed with widgets that interact to cause the bug, in that case it is very hard to track down. welcome to the world of open systems!

personally i would factory reset and do not install any apps for a few days and see if that fixes the issue

Well, I haven't been to ATT yet about it. Do you think they would do a swap? I just assumed they'd insist it was app related. (and not their problem)

Do a Google search for beautiful widgets battery drain

I think there's your answer, lots if discussion on it, and I also had problems that one night it was installed lol.

According to my stats, it uses hardly any CPU. And the only one I'm using is a date widget. So far today, the issue hasn't occurred. But yesterday was fine until the evening, then the GPS went nuts again. <fingers crossed>

My GPS has been acting normally, however, today my screen has been on an hour and 3 minutes and my battery is at 57%. Isn't that a lot of battery drain for what my phone seems to be doing? I know the GPS has been on some, but geez.
