I'm new to Pokemon Go and using my GS7 i notice when walking the map is always pointed sideways or at an angle. shouldn't it point straight ahead? I can't get it to look straight ahead when walking. i either have to walk sideways or stop and turn around to get it to look the right way. i also notice on this phone and most androids i have been on that the pointer on GMaps is pointed the wrong way when walking or driving as well. is there a problem with android phones and the GPS pointing the correct direction? The pointer will go the right way as it follows me but just faces the wrong way as it moves.

Its not you. Click on the compass pointer in the upper left and the direction will change to straight ahead,

Notsure what yu mean here.

i explained it the best i could. The pointer will go the right way as i move it just faces or points the wrong direction as it moves along. so if i'm driving dead straight east it's pointed northeast as if my car is going down the road.

I got you. I can't tell what does happen. There are two modes. One is locked and the other changes.

I think i might have fixed it for the time being. I downloaded GPS Status and ran a compass calibration and it seemed to fix the map problem on Pokemon Go. haven't tried Gmaps. yet. all the tutorials online says to put a code in the dialer to reach a service menus to calibrate the compass but everytime i do that Verizon says my call cannot be completed as dialed. i read that Verizon has all the service menus disabled. it makes me mad about that. i tried to no avail awhile back trying to get into the service menu like others talk about and couldn't figure out why it didn't work. when i was with Tmobile i was able to on one of my phones back then.

It didn't stay fixed exactly so I have to turn the map manually. The day after I posted it was fixed.
