my gps won't seem to stop finding location. it does it like every minute making my highest battery use the android system with gps being awake all the time. tried shutting down phone. tried turning location services off then on. when i do that it will no longer recognize the "trusted places" even after it has established location.

Under location settings do you have it set to high accuracy? Tried changing it to battery saver?

google play services is the highest user of gps if i'm looking at this correctly. it'a always on top of the "recent location request"

yes i do have it on high accuracy. i'll see how "battery saver" will help. i still want it to be unlocked in trusted locations and i'm wondering if battery saver will negate that.

It might make it take a little longer to locate you is all.

You can either have great battery life or constantly running gps, not both lol.

Switch to battery saver. Sometimes though, you'll have to switch back if you have an app that needs GPS.

Unfortunately, Android does not allow you to control what apps have access to your location. Sucks, I know. This is one reason why Android phones have sucky battery life. So, you have to manage your location settings on your own for all apps. My wife turns off location services and only turn it on if she needs to navigate. I leave mine in battery saving mode and only switch to a more precise mode if needed. Either way works, but is not perfect.

I use GPS only and Access Lock to remove Location permission from every app that I don't think needs it. Access lock doesn't work for system apps but that doesn't seem to effect my battery life as I never see location on unless I'm actually using it. Google play services is also the top abuser of location but I think that's just because I've removed permissions from just about everything else. My battery life is excellent.

Is that an app or something?

I have GPS on at high accuracy 100% of the time and it doesn't affect the battery much at all. Sometime lower accuracy setting will actually drain more battery because without WiFi location, it could only get location info from GPS satellites. And if you are in a shielded building it will just keep trying and trying. WiFi location use much less power even if you are not connected to the WiFi. The phone could get your general location from cross referencing known WiFi signal strength and locations.

I'd just like to point out that through the Access Lock process, as cool as it is for reducing unwanted location access, can't block Google Play Services or Google from using Location access.

I went the app route. Took keep awake and location from basically everything it would let me since all I ever use location for is Maps. See how it goes...
