Just looking to see if anyone else is having issues with slow 4g speeds since it came back up in the greater detroit area? Speedtest on my phone is fast as always however once I wireless tether and run a speed test the pings are around mid 60's which is great but my downstream is hovering under 1mbit. It also sits on connecting for about 30 seconds before the test starts going. Same happens with wired tether.

I just lost it in the last 1/2 hour...I'm not worried about it.
I live in St. Clair Shores and work in Warren.
At work, older building with not great reception, I typically get 5 to 12 down and 1.5 to 3 up.
At home, 10 to 15 down (spiked over 20 quite a few times) and 2-4 up.

I'm sure the weather isn't helping we're having here right now, but I'm not worried in the least. Let them get it right, let them get it fixed....

Where do you live? I live in Belleville and I sadly don't get any 4g.

Thats where I grew up...Before Outage, my speeds in Southgate were in the 5 down and 2-3 range up....I have been disappointed in that. So hopefully they get it fixed and I'm rolling at a good speed.

Very true. After my 4th reboot speeds seem to have picked up while tethered. Phone speeds didnt seem to be an issue. Very strange.

Dont you get interference from the Canada towers while being in St. Claire Shores? I heard that was an issue over there. I used to live in Roseville and never had any problems.

No issue at all. I am a mile from the lake and a bit further from Canada.
My parents used to live up in Marysville, they would occasionally roam to a Canada cell and they just had to call VZW to get it removed from their bill. They were literally a small river width's away from Canada.

I get better speeds at home then work, even when I'm outside of either building.

I stay in Shelby and I usually get down speeds of 17mbps. Since the 4G came back up, I am around 10mbps if I can even get a signal at all.

at least you guys have 4G on your side of the state. US over here on the west side dont even have 4G.

I think the main reason it was pushed out in the greater detroit area is because of the big 3. From what I understand they have a big contract with Verizon. Not positive on that but its what I heard. I can't think of any other reason that they would invest time and money in this dump.

Question for you Metro Detroiters, I currently am living in Sterling Heights, have you guys noticed some instability with the 4g network this afternoon? I.E. Short timeline of today... Woke up this morning with 4g, I'm thinking cool the nationwide outage is finally fixed, at about noon the network went back to the dreaded 1x and at about 1pm it has been switching back from 3g to about 1 to 3 minutes of 4g and finally back again to 3g. Just want to get some feedback from you guys and possibly any suggestions you may have if your phone has been running 4g stable all day today!

I was having issues around 10:00am with it switching back to 1x but after several reboots it stabalized and stayed on 4G with great speeds. I think it took about 4 reboots before it came up showing 4G.

Similar here. Good when I woke up...off and on a bit today.
Went outside for lunch and it's been fine since.

I'm sure VZW got some kinda tax break for doing something in Metro Detroit...:)

Even though the population is way down, it's still a large metropolitan population.
If you look at Detroit alone, it's barely in the top 20 (18th at the last census) but if you include the metro area it moves up to 12th.

I think VZW looked at numbers only...if they looked at the actual cities...yeah, Detroit is the Detoilet. I'd give anything to change that....I just don't see it happening any time soon. Instead, I see Detroit moving north.

Yeah, I mean Detroit is a struggling city and that does suck because I love going down there, but correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Rochester Hills area the first to get 4g coverage in Michigan. It makes sense that Verizon put 4g there, its one of the few booming cities in the Metro Detroit area.

I highly doubt it. Rochester Hills has 10% of the population of Detroit.
Everything I've read just said Metro Detroit was turned on at the same time, Middle of February or so...
I actually tested USB LTE modems before the bolt came out.

Parts of Macomb, Wayne and Oakland counties got LTE...
