So I mainly had one question concerning the green notification light, but also wanted to comment on the the new update and its affect on battery life.
I ended up writing far too much for this little question (bolded), so please just answer the question if its a tldr!

I'm a terrible student (don't judge plz), finishing my last year in college, and while sitting in the back of a lecture hall I tinker with my phone and text every once in a while. I used to have a BB and it was nice being able to silence everything and just have the red notification light blink so I wouldn't distract anyone and I could respond to messages. I loved that about the Droid 2 until I realized the light won't trigger if you are still using the same function (i.e. text message).

For example, I'm sitting in my history class and texting my friend, Mike. I just sent him a text and pushed the lock phone button and began taking notes. 10 minutes later I'm saying to myself, "wtf Mike? why haven't you responded? where is the green light??" Then I unlock and there is a response one minute after I sent the last text to him, but no green light notification. The only way to avoid this is to make sure I click home before locking which is kind of annoying to me if I'm primarily just going to be texting the same person. I tinkered with the settings but could not find anything that has to do with making the light go off. Its caused me to miss a couple of time-sensitive (albeit not extremely important) text messages and thus dinners with friends or a trip to Costco, etc.

But I know imma whiny little b and its not that big of a deal so I'll just start going to Home screen every time before I lock, but I've accidentally pushed home twice and then the phone lady says, "Say a command" (and everyone in my class looks at me), so yeah, gonna have to change that function (But I know how to do that) if I'm gonna have go to home screen every time. BUT, the question: Can I change how the green light notifies and make it notify me regardless if I am currently using that program/email/text message?

I sure do ramble a lot. Sorry.

UPDATE 2.3. Get it.
My battery life has been PHENOMENAL after the update. I've been running it on performance mode 24/7 and it lasted over 1 day (that was with minimal usage/texts/light browsing/tiny bit of music/etc). I don't know what the update did but before that I was at 30% after 10-12hrs. I can only attribute it to the update, I have changed nothing else / my usage or settings. I HATE not getting my emails as soon as possible, as soon as I would get them on my laptop, which is why I loved my BB, so waiting every 15 min to sync was and is completely out of the question. Anywho, definitely recommend getting the update for improved battery life, plus it ends that stupid facebook/contact link thing where the contact's fb status blocks the number. I've barely had the phone for a month now, though.

Thanks!

=)
