Greenify or ShutApp?

I am pleased with the improvements I see with ShutApp and I like the ease with which I can white list apps that I want to continue to allow to remain on in order to provide timely notifications, etc. (email, Textra, etc) but I notice there is a lot of positive talk about Greenify. I checked it out in the Play Store and it seems to have incredible ratings...better, even than ShutApp.

Just wondering if anyone has compared the two and found one to be better than the other? Do they do things differently and, if so, how? Which has the better, more straightforward UI?

Greenify, it gives more information/transparency overall. Also, I prefer the Greenify widget to that smiley face Shut Up widget on the homescreen. Shut Up has the cleaner UX but they're both pretty simple to use in my opinion.

I've been using Greenify for years. Just recently installed Shutapp, however i'm using them both at the same time, so not sure how I can pass judgement for now. Greenify is awesome if rooted as it handles everything automatically in the background meaning I don't have to click the bubble which is required in Shutapp for now.

Neither, I used greenify on two different phones, battery life went down on both.

Sounds like user error, what makes you think it was Greenify?

I've used Greenify on my previous HTC One M7 and it worked great when the phone was rooted (everything happened automatically). But, on my unrooted Samsung S6 you have to manually fire off Greenify to have it hibernate background apps. I just started using ShutApp, but it seems easy to use and effective.

I like that the Shut Up widget tells you how many apps are open but that floating alert was really unnecessary for me. I keep the Greenify widget on my homescreen doesn't hurt me to click it manually once in awhile. I usually limit it to after gaming sessions or a device restart. From what I've seen I have similar results with both so it's really preference.

The floating alert can be removed. Just go to settings-MagicShut and turn it off.

Right I figured it out just stating that I found that feature intrusive for no reason.

I'm not trying to bash greenify. It was the only app that I installed for a couple days. My battery went to hell, then when I uninstalled it it went back up ,on two different devices. I don't see how it could be user error, its pretty straightforward. Service running is the only sense I can make out of it.

Sorry no offense it could've been the app also, you're right it's just software in the end.

I think Greenify could be useful on older devices but these newer ones it doesn't seem to help any. On my Note 4 I installed it and used for months but didn't see any better battery life. I thought I could do better so I paid the $3 for the donation package so I could hibernate system apps too things like google maps and other things that only needed to run when I need them. Well that was a waste because all of those system apps restart themselves after a short period so Greenify is shutting them down all the time and it made battery life way worse. Wish I could get my $3 back but it was too late. I eventually uninstalled Greenify completely and my battery is fine I get over 5 hours SOT.
