Hi all! My name is Troy and I hale from the southern Colorado region of Pueblo County, home of the almost world famous Pueblo Green Chili - perhaps the finest addition to food known to mankind. There is nothing quite like the combination of pork, onions, garlic, a few spices, chicken broth and flour mixed in with some good diced green chili and simmered for several hours then poured liberally over the top of an open faced hamburger and served with fries and known locally as a slopper.

I'm a high school teacher and sort of an middle of the road tech adopter. I'm forced to use a MacBook for my school work and even lost my mind for a while with an iphone 5s, but I recovered. My first smart phone back around 2009 was a Motorola Droid and I've worn out or damaged several Droid Turbo XTs, a couple of blackberries and now am enjoying a Galaxy Note 8.

i don't root or ask my phone to do more than it is capable of and enjoy the convenience of having the power of this machine in the palm of my hand. I think back to my old bag phone or even that first 40meg desk top boat anchor and marvel at how far it has all come.

I'm enjoying reading of your experiences. Thank you!

Welcome to the forums. Some of us have been around long enough to remember needing 5.25" floppy boot disks....lol

Welcome to the forums, Troy! Enjoy your new Samsung device! If you need anything, feel free to ask! Feel free to root around in the Note 8 sub-forums as well! :)

Hello Troy, welcome to the forums at Android Central!

Welcome to the AC Forums, Troy! Glad to have you on board! :) And man, did that make me hungry! Took me a while to read through your post, kept going back to the green chili recipe haha But hey, it's green... this is Android... it's appropriate.

Welcome to Android Central! Now I'm hungry too.:p

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I make use of the Google classroom app and many related apps from the Google suite. I like being able to walk around my room and being able to see student progress from my phone rather than going to my laptop.

Any chance your district will join the Chromebook revolution? Let them know it would save lots of $$$.;)

We just reupped with Apple for 5 more years. That ought to finish my career. I tried to make the case for chrome books, but that was above my paygrade
