Hey everyone.

I am new to the Android Operating System and look forward to learning more. I recently upgraded from my old iPhone 3GS to the Samsung Galaxy S3. I have to say WOW I love this phone. Its so slick and fast. Impressive. I have not rooted and since I am new am hesitant to even consider it where I have only had the phone for almost 2 weeks and I do not want to void warranty with my mobile carrier, Rogers in Canada.

I'm interested in learning about some cool apps, ways to backup my phone considering I can't kies to actually back up my settings. I currently have ICS for an OS.

Its nice to meet you. I have been reading some posts over the past week and finally decided to register and get involved.

Welcome to Android Central.

Unfortunately the only real way to back up your device in the way your thinking is by rooting your device. Then you have options like titanium back up or myback up root to make back ups of apps and their data/settings.

The next best thing you can do without rooting is make sure under settings/back up and reset you have the option selected to backup to Google. This will remember your apps and basic settings in the event something happens.

Aside from that you can export contacts to file and use apps like sms back up and restore to save text messages.

Many apps today have options to make back ups that are saved to internal storage or sdcard.

Hope this answers some of your questions, enjoy your SGSIII.

Enjoy the forums.
