Hi all!

Longtime Android user here, from the Droid Pro to the Droid RAZR to the Galaxy Note II, and soon onto another!

Meanwhile I've used several Windows Phones as my work phone. I really like the OS but the ecosystem never matured enough for me to use it on my primary/personal device. I think I've finally given up hope that it will ever get there...

Looking forward to some great Android discussion!

Cheers,
Alex

You've come to the best place for Android....welcome and enjoy!☺

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the forums! What do you think your next device will be?
That's precisely what prompted me to join, having just cracked my Note II! I just posted an advice thread, and once it's approved I'll drop the link in here.

Edit: looks like we can't post links until reaching 10 posts (understandable), but you can find my thread in the General News & Discussion forum.

Welcome to the forums!

What was your question about it. Only screen I ever cracked was my Note 2, I'm now on my Note 4 :)

Ha! Funnily enough, this is the second time I've broken this phone. The first time was just a couple months into ownership, and the screen itself cracked, so I had it replaced. This time around I'm due for an upgrade, so I'm looking for a new device.

My thread is just seeking advice on what to buy. I'm not particularly taken with any of the flagships Verizon has on offer right now. A while ago my plan was to upgrade to the S6, as I was looking to downsize slightly, and I really liked the S5's waterproofing since I run outside a lot (and inevitably end up getting rained on). Of course Samsung axed the waterproofing (and the removable battery, and the memory card slot... ugh). So now it's a wide open field of several phones, each of which has its individual pros and cons, and I can't make up my mind about where to compromise.

Ok, I've had the S5, I doubt you will be happy going to the S5 from any Note.

I've had the:

S
S3
S5
Note 1
Note 2
Note 3
Note 4

I went from the N3 to the S5 and I was never happy with screen size, nor the 2g RAM and 16g memory and the battery size.

It is water resistant, not proof and plenty of people have had issues with water damage.

For me, YMMV, my most important issues are:

Large screen
Battery life

I also looked at the S6. I didn't like the glass back, because sometimes I go careless and I just can't even with all those fingerprints on the back, nope lol.

Also I was not willing to move away from a removable battery. If Samsung goes to closed battery all the time, they will need to make sure it is large battery for me.

The screen size of the S6 just wasn't enough for me, because the screen size is important.

When I decided to go to the S5 for a while, the thing I forgot, the S line and the Note line generally attract different users and the Note line is really geared towards more power users.

What you have to decide, if you are wanting to stay with the Samsung brand, is what are the top things you must have and what order those things are.

Now, I love my Note 4 so much more than I loved my Note 3 when I got it, but every Note phone I have ever gotten, has always been an improvement from the previous Note.
