Group/individual text

When I send a text to multiple people , I go into the side menu and pick "send as individual" but my friends say it still comes to then as a group. What am I doing wrong ?

Sry I don't have an answer. Just wanted to say that I wish I could find a way to turn off group texts. I hate them. The other night I got about 50 of them and couldn't turn them off.
