How do I start a group text message in hangouts?

After you select the first person in the group, a box will pop up asking if you want to add anyone else:

I do not get that option

This is a follow up on my issue. I have a Google voice number that I use. My family all use iPhone, they sometimes will text in a group. I receive the text messages but not in a group. My fiance has a galaxy s4 using her Verizon number in the stock message app. She is able to get the group text messages. Should I port Google voice number to Verizon and use the message stock app? Or is there a application that will allow me to use group text message with my Google voice number? I don't want to have to use my regular number. Any help would be great.
