No, factory reset doesn't downgrade the OS.

Only "fix" I have seen is this from T-Mobile:


You would have to create a Group in contacts first.

Send a group message

To write and send text messages (SMS) to a group, follow these steps:

From any home screen, tap Contacts.
Tap the Groups tab.
Select the group.
Tap Menu > Send message.
Select recipients or tap Select all.
Tap Done.
Enter the message text, then tap Send.

I'm not really sure this is what you are looking for but the LG messaging app is limited. I personally use Hangouts on my LG G Stylo (Very similar to G4)

I might start using messenger by Google or hangouts but is there a way to rename the app?

I just checked my LG G4's stock app, I didn't see anything for group messaging either. I use Textra personally, but to each their own. I've been thinking about switching back to Hangouts or Google Messenger just to try something different.

For my use, I rarely use a group text (I have other messaging apps for that). SMS is 90% work related stuff, so I prefer to keep each conversation separate.

Well I switch to textra. So far it's great like it, sorry for doubting you guys. But now will I have to pay later for textra or buy a "full" textra app?

Yeah, I can't find the area to buy the pro version. Where is it? Also how do you change the background color. You can change the message text and bubble color,and even style but I can't find where you change the background color. It only has light, dark, black, and day and night color
