Group texts in samsung messenger app acting strangely.

This seems like it's happened more since I switched back to the stock sms app but it may have been happening before while using Android Messages.

I'm part of an ongoing large group text with a bunch of friends. Recently I've been getting a lot of replies from things I sent to the group in separate individual sms messages. Or I hear from people on the group wondering why I sent them something that, in the group text would make sense but out of it, by itself in a separate sms makes no sense. Because they hadnt been paying attention to the group text. Some see it in the group and respond, some responses get sent separately. Doesnt seem to matter if its iphone or android.

It's strange and I cant find a setting to address this.

I think what is happening is "group conversation" is turned off. Make sure it's checked. See the attachment. If not checked, it sends everyone an individual text message.

Yes, it would show for you in the group text...hmmmm if it's checked, I'm not sure. But that's the behavior that I would expect if it's not checked. Be sure that it's checked for that particular message.

the only thing I've found to consistently work for me in group text situations is Textra. I haven't tried switching back tk the stock Samsung app and honestly I'd be too nervous to try, because I'd be afraid it would mess up my group chats again. (logically, that doesn't make sense. but it seems like that's what happens) For some reason it seems like third party apps do a better job forcing the messages to stay in the group thread.

I've been having group message problems with my Samsung messenger too. Ever since I updated to android 8.0, I can't send links, photos, videos, or even a message in a group chat without it failing. I tried safe mode and same result, I tried clearing the cache, I've never had this problem on 7.1.1 and I'm kind of frustrated because I can't talk to my friends who dont have social media in a group text. Anyone have any suggestions?

Same problem. MMS rarely works since the update

Ok I thought it was just me having this issue ... I may go back to textra for my group chats now
