Grr! Is there a way to make the camera change focus?

I filmed the formation of two tornadoes the other day.
Well, I thought I did - mostly what I got was the rain on the window.
Grr!
Is there a way to make the camera change focus?

Welcome to Android Central! Next time, put the phone directly against the glass, so that the camera can't try to focus on the rain on the window.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if there's an easy way to force the video camera to focus on something in the distance when there's so much in the foreground to focus on.

BTW, this is the technique I use when taking a picture of something behind glass (like a sculpture in a museum), because it also eliminates most if not all glare. Like so:
