GS3 v HTC Evo 4LTE

How so?

It's mainly the camera and removable battery of the GSIII that's making me think twice about my EVO LTE pre-order.

For someone that takes lots of pictures and videos on their phone, like myself, the camera quality is very important. By reading many reviews of the GSIII, One X, and EVO LTE in the past week, it's clear to me that the GSIII takes better pictures and videos. I know it doesn't do great in low-light condition, but most of the pictures and videos I take are usually in daylight, so it's it's not really an issue for me.

Battery life is also important to me as I deal with a lot of emails and phone calls a day. Plus I do a lot of audio and video streaming. I'm not always near an outlet, so I go through the battery pretty quick than the average user. My past two phones had a removable battery which both I replaced with Seidio's 3000+ mAh extended battery. I know the OneX/EVOLTE are supposed to have good battery life, but if it can't handle my power usage, I have the Anker battery pack to help me out. I'm hoping Seidio will make some kind of battery case for the EVOLTE so I don't have to carry the external battery pack around all the time.

There are two reasons why I'm probably going to stick with my pre-order of the EVOLTE.

First, there hasn't been any official announcement yet to when the GSIII will go to Sprint, so I can be waiting for a while. My current OG EVO is getting really sluggish (I don't have much memory left), so I need a new phone right about now.

And second (which is the biggest concern for me), Samsung's phones are known to have radio issues. I'm not sure if that's still an issue with the Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy SII line, but three of my friends who had the OG Epic 4G all complained about how long it took for the GPS to lock in and how they would have to toggle the Wi-Fi and 4G radio sometimes just to get them working. I use the GPS every day so I need that to be stable.

I would cancel my EVOLTE pre-order if I find out Sprint is going to release the GSIII sometime in the next month and I hear that the radio signal issue is no longer an issue.

I am in the same situation (except I haven't pre-ordered). Have you rooted your Evo? If not that might be an option since its at the end of its life anyway, and you'll get much better performance.

I think it will be at least a 1-2 month delay till the GS3 is available here. I'm prepared to wait, then I'll read the final reviews and decide. It seems like a phone worth waiting for and since I'll be keeping it for 2 years I can wait a little more.

I currently have a MT4G which has a dedicated camera button. While I like how the S3 looks including the software updates, if a device similar to EVO LTE were to become available on T-Mobile, then that would be my choice. IMO both devices seem very capable so it boils down to minute things such as S-Voice or a dedicated camera button.

Been meaning to root my OG EVO, but never did get around to it. I'll definitely give it a shot this time around with the EVOLTE.

Yeah, I'll give it a shot. I'll play with the camera a lot and see how the battery holds up with my daily routine. If I get bad results, then I'll return it in 14 days and wait a bit longer for more info on the GSIII for Sprint.

Go for it, Evo with a custom rom like MIUI is literally a night and day difference.
