The camera is really not that bad on the M8. the low-light picture taking and quicker shutter response not to mention the better overall software and user experience make up for the i wanna blow up my pictures and put them on the wall of the s5.... lol

not to mention Zoes.

either way. the fact that we have a choice is the best part.

S5 I just better this year...feels great in hand especially black version..camera is amazing, emojis are the best...just saying its better overall but the one is fast and I really don't like the look of the front

Removable battery and camera case closed. Played with M8 it's a nice device just not for me. I use headphones and a case so the speakers and metal mean nothing to me. Enjoy either one!

If you use headphones, then wouldn't the best audio output (audio jack) on the market appeal to you? The m8 will have a noticable difference when using headphones compared to anything.

Personally, I think it's down to what people want. You have to make a decision based on what phone suits you more. End of discussion

I know it's louder but I use Neutron Music player and it boosts it louder than I need, great for audiophiles. Enjoy all the new phones on the market People. Peace

Exactly. It's nothing that can't be improved via software. You can't shrink the M8 or change the camera hardware----that's the problem.

I think the whole size issue regarding the M8 is overblown, in reality the devices are basically the same size with the M8 being a bit taller and the S5 a bit wider. I don't think a person is going to pick one over the other because of the minimal size difference.

Awkward height, slippery build, and a very limited camera is more than likely a problem that could hurt that company even more than last year. I know tech sites refuse to believe the M8 can do any wrong, but there's a reason HTC is hurting and it's not all their abysmal marketing department.

I will back him on this... A bunch of tech sites are all stoked because of the metal build quality of the M8. People are really tired of it. Pound for pound-the hardware inside the phones are very comparable... Sure. But that camera on the M8 in 2014...hideous and unacceptable. The S5 is above average in all areas. And I think most people put cases on their phone... So that "stellar" build quality on the M8 is hidden. Plus to be frank about it... In the review on this site, the M8 is all scratched up after one week of use. That cool metal goes to hell when it's dropped and dented. I'm not getting either device... But the S5 is the better device. And the build quality on the S5 has been proven in many videos. I wanna see an M8 look as good or take that many hits. What suits most people is a phone that will work well, take a drop, AND TAKE GOOD Pics. The M8 can't do 2 of the 3...pretty simple which phone is better and will sell better.

A lot of audiophiles would disagree. Hardware is always better than software.

I didn't mention anything about the size or camera, it's not A problem, it's YOUR problem.

I actually prefer this size and the camera is really nice. Those are my opinions not facts

All this from someone who owns neither phone and uses a phone with a camera(moto x) that's more hideous and unacceptable(his words) then both the m8 and s5....

First world problems... I am amused by the passionate arguments folks are making for either product. They are both amazing and so is the iPhone 5s. The fact is, if we could go back in time fifteen years with any of those three devices people would think we were from 50 years in the future. We are lucky to live in this day and age. Anyway, you would think based on the fiery nature with which some people either bash or defend the M8 or the S5 they own Samsung or HTC. The reality is they have MUCH more in common than not. It comes down to personal preference. I chose the M8 based on how smooth it operates and coming from Galaxy S, S2 and then S3 I just didn't see enough of a leap in the S5 other than SPEEED to warrant the same old same old. BUT, it was a tough choice and I am still considering visiting Sprint tomorrow to put the S5 through its paces and see if it is enough for me to return the M8. I doubt it. In 12 months I'll pick up either the Note 4, LG3, M9,iPhone 6,Z3 or S6 OR maybe their will be another newcomer to this crazy game. Bottom line is, remember how COOL you thought you were holding that stupid Motorola RAZR walking through the mall...lol. It isn't so cool anymore and neither will the M8 or S5 in a year from now. So...take it easy, remember you don't own either company - these phones aren't your baby, they are all great and SUPER FAST for today's standards and enjoy them!

I never said it was. I wouldn't call this arguing, either. I'm simply pointing out why the M8 is flawed and will more than likely be a disappointment in the sales department, despite the love it gets from tech sites and those that visit them.

Also, I'm posting this on the Galaxy S5 forums and not the M8 forums. If you're not happy reading this, there's always another place for you to frequent.

Or I'm unconvinced that front facing speakers called "BoomSound" are nothing more than a niche feature? It's not "cool" to like a Samsung device on the internet. I'm a Nexus guy, but I can call it like I see it:

The S5 is a better phone than the M8. It'll blow it away in sales for a reason. Sorry that's not the popular opinion on a tech site, but it's the truth. Is that "fanboy" enough for you?

The S5 will blow it away for a lot of reasons but a lot of them have nothing to do with the M8. S3 owners and Note 2 owners are looking for new phones, people know Samsung (only manufacturer outside Apple) still has the "cool" factor, they have a lot of mind share as compared to HTC, they have a lot of advertisements, people are spreading the word about how good their phones etc. etc. If anything only tech heads will argue about whether M8 or the S5 is better because honestly people buy phones nowadays by trends, which is a shame because the M8, Motorola, and LG devices are quite good.

I got the s5 Friday and have had the one m8 for a few weeks. Switched everything over and used the s5 all weekend. For me the build quality and slimmer design even though taller feels better for me on the M8 also the back of my s5 got hot, uncomfortably hot. I think touchwiz has improved but for me sense is better.
I played around with all features tested the entire family's heart rate that was fun for like 20min don't see me using that and the swipe the fingerprint is OK, but again not a huge selling point.
I think both phones liking depends on the person so please don't take offense. At the end of the day its what suits each person best. So congrats to the ones that love the S5 and Cheers to the ones that love the M8.
