GSM Nexus arriving Thursday(yayy!) but the Straight Talk sim will not arrive until Monday(boo!),so obviously I can't activate it until then.

For those of you that also got a gsm Nexus but for whatever reason didn't get it activated right away did you power it on and play with it or did you leave it alone?

I'm assuming it wouldn't be wise to do anything with the phone until I can activate it other than maybe making sure it's fully charged??

This is a 1st for me...every other phone I've ever had has either been activated when I got it or I activated it right after receiving it.

I don't see a problem with playing with it untill your sim comes. I've messed with a bunch of phones without sim cards in it to see what the phone is like. Just can't make calls.

It shouldn't be a problem. You can just hook it to your WiFi and do pretty much everything you want to, other than make & receive calls and send & receive texts.

Looks like you're coming from Boost Mobile and a CDMA phone? GSM phones aren't really "activated" like CDMA phones are. You can turn on your phone right away and start syncing your Google account, downloading apps, going online, etc. over WiFi. There will just be a small message saying "No SIM" and you won't be able to text, call or have wireless data. Pop in the SIM once you get it and then you're good to go with a fully set up phone.

I got my nexus last Friday, and I turned it on even though I couldn't activate it until Monday. You'll be fine :)

pretty much all android phones can be used as a media player/etc without sim card or activation. just no phone calls.

Just one other thing that you may not be aware of. The phone needs to be powered off and it is also recommended to pull the battery before inserting the sim card.
