Has anyone tried both CompanionLink and gSync in order to sync their Outlook with their TB? I need contacts, calendar and notes (memos) and I'm willing to pay, but I want the one that syncs the best. (I'm coming from BB and I'm spoiled.)

CompanionLink has a free 14 day demo so you can check it out yourself.

CompanionLink has four different ways to synchronize to Android. The USB Sync is similar to how old BlackBerry's would work, but there is also a Wi-Fi sync that works well. CompanionLink supports synchronizing Outlook to Google, but this isn't recommended because Google Calendar can't handle all Outlook recurring date patterns so if you use recurring dates you may lose data by being limited to what Google Calendar can handle.

Overall CompanionLink can be a much better buy. For one thing, if you synchronize at work and home, we allow one purchase to be used on multiple computers. Also, CompanionLink supports a lot more types of phones and tablets so you will probably continue to use it a long time. Most competing products force you to buy a separate license for every PC you use, and also for every phone, so in the long run you'll pay more even for a lower price product.

DejaOffice is a replacement UI for Android for people who use Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos all together with Categories, linked contacts GTD or TBYL tasks or private memos. Check out www.dejaoffice.com. It's a free download from Android Marketplace.

CLCTO - it seems that reoccurring events are duplicated onto my Outlook using CompanionLink. The phone calendar doesn't show duplicates, nor does google calendar - just the laptop. Any ideas on why this is happening, and how to fix it?

Can you check to see if you also have Google Calendar Sync installed? Having two sync tools installed at the same time will cause the symptom where the data gets doubled.

Have you tried the HTC Sync that comes with the phone yet?

Honestly, when you come over to Droid you can say hasta la vista to being able to sync POP3 Outlook with your phone like you can with an iPhone or Blackberry. It's the price we pay. Dejaoffice can kinda get the job done. Ditto for gSyncit and even the HTC utility. But in the end there really isn't anyway to do a good sync and Google has no intent to address this glaring flaw. About your only option is to pay for hosted exchange email (IMAP). Other than that we have been told to suck eggs by Google.

FWIW, I'm trying both on a MyTouch4. Companionlink just lost 200 of 1600 contacts, altho it did all 1600 last night. But then after a few more syncs, it was down to 0 contacts.

gSyncit usually lost a few, especially if they had pictures. There was often further corruption or loss when Gmail sync'd with the phone.

Companionlink's calendar may be better than Android's; the contacts/dialer is ok but I'd rather use the Android one. Aside from the gee-wiz factor, the WiFi sync doesn't seem cool. You have to find the phone's IPA and type that into the PC screen.

I hate to be old and jaded, but this stuff was a lot better on the Palm OS. I also had good luck with ActiveSync for contacts, but Notes worked badly. Software vendors just can't keep up with things anymore.

I'm using "smooth calendar", go contacts and gdocs with sync.
They all sync using gsyncit and as far as I can tell, there have been few hiccups. I DO miss my BB and the ability to sync all of this without piecing together a bunch of third party apps, but - it works...for now.

I've been struggling all week with Companionlink. I must admit I've been getting suggestions everyday via email which is not too bad for a trial. At the moment, it does not remove items that have been deleted in Outlook.

On gSyncit, I got several extensive replies at first, but nothing since. I was left with several contacts, which had pictures, that were turned into "unnamed".

I haven't tried much two way syncing; it is getting discouraging. There is definitely a market out there if anyone can get this stuff to work.

This is a setting that can easily be changed. In CompanionLink, go to the settings for Outlook, select the Applications tab, then under "Primary Database" ensure that either the first or third option is selected (based on how you want the sync to function). Either of these choices will work.

Let me know if you need any more help!
