GT S2 Micro SD problem... card or tab?

I purchased a San Disk micro SD card when I got my new S2 in June of '16 and it's worked perfectly until... Last night, when I had to reboot the tablet after it locked up on an app (not the first time that's happened, BTW. Not always the same app, either) and when I rebooted, it would seem there was no micro SD card in the slot. After another reboot with the same result, I turned the tab off and took the card out and put it in my PC, who says that the card is not accessible and that it must be formatted before it can be used. Yikes! I have (well, "had" apparently) 32 gig of music, hundreds of pictures & vids and the majority of the info for my apps on there (I have not tried to access any of the apps that have info on the card except for my alarm, which now only shows the files that were stored on the tab memory).

Is the card dead? Will a format make the card useable again and even if it does, how long will it go before this happens again? Was it the fault of the card or the tablet? To be honest, in many ways I have come to regret buying this tablet, there are a lot of 'features' that I loath and often wish I was back using my old GT 3, with which I had a whole lot fewer problems (especially prior to Samsung making my SD nearly unusable with their stupid update... grrr!). But alas I am stuck with this one and will have to deal with it's problems, one way or another. Still, as much I curse this and other things Samsung (our reefer, for one... whoever designed it decided not to illuminate all of the features on the front panel touchpad!), it is not yet bad enough to make me switch to the hated IOS! My wife has a newer IPhone 6+ and every time I have to 'fix' something for her, I am absolutely disgusted with it!

I do not think the tablet was the culprit here. I might have crashed but that should not have done anything to the memory card.

I would try reformatting the card (you will lose all the stuff) and see if it works after that.

Otherwise, If the card is still under warranty. You could get it swapped. I've personally owned a few Sandisk cards and they have all lasted me 4 years with no problems.

I wouldn't get my hopes up, but it could be doing something as simple as scanning the card for errors. Can you see the card in "My Computer" if you plug it in? Not in the tablet I mean, but by itself in a card reader. If you can, right click on it, go to properties, tools and scan for errors. Make sure to check the box to fix file system errors. Don't worry about checking for bad sectors. The scan shouldn't take any more than a minute.
