I just took the leap to CM7 and it's great. No FC's yet and snappy as hell. Loving this release.

The ROM is the best. Get the nightly from the CM7 website.


What does not work for me:

Facebook FC's when doing anything other then feed.

Slingplayer 1.0 FC's on startup. This did the same on other Stock ROM's

When you installed CM7, did you use clockworkmod to wipe data/cache and factory reset?

I helped my dad setup his gtablet last night and had this problem as well. you need to NVFLash it back to stock and then install CM7 if you have the problem with the boot sticks on the viewsonic logo.

The first few time I tried to reboot cm7, it wouldn't boot up but could manually boot into recovery (volume up + power) and then selected reboot from there.

mattrb, the facebook app version 1.5.3 is generating a firehose of fcs for lots of people right now. I was able to extract 1.5.2.apk from a titanium backup and upload it to my public dropbox folder, but I'm not sure if it's ok to link to that here.

I was using vegan for a while.. but i've been running CM7 for like... prob a month now. AMAZING. no lag. no issues at all. only problem i've found is trying to find where to get updates (the g-tab page on cyanogens forums does not work for me, cant find downloads). LOVE my g-tab now

I've been able to tether 3G on mine, but it is pretty slow once you do that. Would probably be ok for a quick e-mail, FB or twitter check, but unbearable for much more.

Edited to say: This was wireless tether, not wired.

I tethered 4G from my HTC EVO yesterday wirelessly in Harrisburg, PA. I pulled about 4 mbps down and 1 mbps up consistently. When I tether 3G I get about 500 kbps down and 200 kbps up, but that is good enough for some regular web surfing and YouTube.. I just won't be streaming any full movies.

I have to say that I love this tablet more and more every day.

Yes. I tether at my office all day to my Evo via Sprint 3g. Works flawlessly using WifiTether app on my rooted Evo. Go for it!!

hey guys i am just wondering if there is going to be another nightly released for the gtab. the latest release is nightly 86 and i see that there is a bunch of stuff coming but there hasn't been any available updates for the gtab yet my nook is like now at 101.

any ideas? i would ask the devs but i know they don't like being bothered with etas and what not so i don't bother them

ViewSonic G-Tablet & Custom ROMs available

Gents,

How many custom ROMs are there for this Viewsonic GTab? So far, I only know about the official CM7 ROM from Cyanogen for the GTab, as well as the Vegan Gingerbread. Which is better? What are the differences? Are there any known compatibility issues or limitations with applications and etc., with either of these custom ROMs compared to the Stock ROM?
