Hi guys my name is dave. I have a strange issue with my Samsung galaxy GT-I9300. It boots up by itself if the battery has a charge. And it doesn't show the Samsung logo at all. The screen is a mix off black, white and green static covering the full screen. It doesn't disappear until I turn it off again. I can't access recovery mode because I cannot see what happens when I use the vol +, home and power button combo. However the vol -, home and power button combo brings me straight into download mode... Without any static, the downloading mode displays properly and Odin detects it but it always fails saying no pit partition.

My head is melted since yesterday I have exhausted all options. Assistance would be great.

I only know enough to be dangerous, but you can probably find a .pit file for your phone over on XDA.

I've tried flashing a pit file on both windows and Linux. Same thing happens fails saying no pit partition. Symptoms point towards a new motherboard being needed from what I've read but I wanna be sure . however it did pass on jodin inside Linux. But that could have been a bug because I didn't really see it doing anything the both times i tried It completed within a few seconds. And said pass... Is that normal for flashing pit files?

Have you tried taking the battery out and reinserting it?

Does anything happen if you do a normal power on (just the Power button)?

With the phone completely off, if you connect a charger do you see the normal charging activity?

The LED glows white? Or the phone starts to boot but only to an all white screen?

If the phone won't boot into Download mode your options are pretty limited:
1. purchase a JIG, which will force the device into Download mode if at all possible
2. try loading a debrick image using an SD card (search for 'debrick' in these forums, not XDA or on YouTube - be sure it's for your model phone)
3. use a JTAG service (ex. http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-jtag-brick-repair/)

It has been much more than 10 minutes... I tried to update my GT-N8013 to 4.4.2 and followed the directions to modify the .tar by deleting a few files. I re-tarred and then tried ODIN3.09 to update my pad. The only messages are:
<ID:0/006> Added!!
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/006> Initialzation..
<ID:0/006> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/006> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/006> SingleDownload.
<ID:0/006> SS_DL.dll
<ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!

Do I just continue waiting or what? (Luckily, I can leave this sitting.)

I'd have to question any directions to remove files from the .tar file - that probably accounts for why Odin is hanging.
You probably want to just flash the stock firmware.

can you tell me what to do when it requires a PIT file? I have tried looking for this but it doesn't seem to want to complete the process without it.
I have a Samsung S5 SM G900F.
Thanks for any help.

You might want to start by looking in the carrier-specific sub-forum for your phone model. You're not likely to get a pointer to the PIT file for your phone in the S3 forums, since the PIT file varies by model, carrier and memory size.
