[GUIDE] Disable CPU rendering

I was having some issues with Holo Launcher prior to using this tweek, felt laggy to me (and it really shouldn't have). After the tweek, runs smooth and I love it.

Thanks for figuring this out.

P.S. was this an issue with stock as well? Or just custom ROMs?

Not sure to be honest, I haven't even thought about trying this on Froyo.

Tried it on NC Stock Rom which is Froyo, didn't work, stuck on Boot Screen, now even when I replace it back with it's Original Files it doesn't boot up. So does this mean I need to redo my "WHOLE" Dual Partition Setup?

Did you make a backup? Just reflash the rom and you should be fine.

I've noticed some Graphics lag on angry birds.

I do too, but only in the first few seconds when the PLAY button comes up with the birds flying across the screen. After that, it's fairly smooth during game play. There are some scenes that might run a little slowly because of extra visual elements. Without the software drivers, game play is usually less choppy for me. I overclock my V's CPU at 806 MHz.

Nope, didn't make a backup for the Stock Rom, so ended up in doing the Dual Partition setup again, well lesson learned for me.

BTW please do update the OP that this tweak only works for GB and above. Don't want people to end up like me.

Alright, got it. Thank you for confirming that.

I installed it on top of Aeneas ROM (a stock based Froyo ROM from Leslie Ann). I am able to use it. Although I do not know whether there is any improvement. I flashed the zip from mirage from the OP.

Any idea if this would react with the amphetamines update?

Trying to tweek for the fastest performance that I can.

I actually found a performance DECREASE. I restored a backup before I flashed this and the phone is a lot smoother now.

I have to do a little more testing and let it settle in a bit, but I got the same impression. I'm on Quattrimus AOKP nightly at the moment.

So that means stock rom is the only one negatively effected?

Alright, it's been a few hours since I flashed it (and I did use the flashable zip from mrg666). Here's what I've noticed. Somethings do indeed seem faster or smoother, including image rendering in the browser, live wallpaper (AOKP Unicorn Porn [yeah, that's right!]). I didn't try any games (don't have any installed), but if there was a difference in anything else, I didn't notice it. Strangely, my keyboard seems slower than it was before (ICS stock keyboard at the moment). There was a considerably longer lag between each keypress and the character indicator popping up above it. That's all I've noticed so far, and it may just be a system process slowing it down in the background, and it may clear up in a few. I'll report back if anything changes.

And thanks for making the effort to improve our phones. Your work is appreciated.

I just found the tweak, I wish I knew how to fix lags and issues with it. This is the best I could do, I'm glad it helps somehow.

The lag I was experiencing with the keyboard is no longer present, so I guess it was related to something else.

Like mrg666 said, at bare minimum, you've reduced the need for an unnecessary library, and that's always good!

Thanks again for the time you've put into this project!

You guys are welcome, I'll continue sharing whatever else I find if I come across something interesting again.

Does this need to be flashed after a new rom install? It works great for me on Quattrimus. My Antutu Benchmark was 1864. I am going to flash over to Vanilla Bean to try it out and definitely want to keep this tweak running!!
Thanks for the great work.
