I referenced the video before I attempted to root. Everything went fine, thanks for the video.

I rooted with the TW update by installing the clockwork recovery referenced in the OP and used the root exploit provided on XDA. DanSan has the XDA link on his YouTube video of the how-to.

Thank you OP for referencing the process and DanSan for posting the video. Thanks to everyone else who contributed to bring us root and the developers doing good things for the community.

Can someone give me a pointer here. I've followed the instructions on getting into download mode, it's essentially the same as going to download on my Charge, and my previous Fascinate. But my problem is holding down the power and the volume down, it just keeps flashing the boot screen, and then going off...back to boot flash screen, and then off...back and forth. I've noticed a few others have had this same issue, but it's not universal and I've not seen a fix. Essentailly, it won't go to download mode.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I REALLY want to get this thing rooted, so I can tether my tab to my charge for internet access.

EDIT: Never mind. I found a post where someone said you don't have to hold the power down the entire time, just for a few seconds, release, but keep holding volume down I thought...heck, it's worth a try! Voila! It worked!

Yep...following those directions, it worked beautifully! Thanks! And then following the directions on how to replace the hacked file (the name slips my mind right now) in order to get an ad hoc network to tether, worked beautifully too!

Wonder if someone can help me with this. I rooted yesterday and flashed [ROM] [KANG] CyanogenMod 9 For the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi (1/26/2012). Everything works great except the computer doesn't recognize the tab when I connect via the usb cable. I reinstalled the drivers but it didnt work. Anybody have any ideas. Thanks in advance.
