Well firstly, I'm new and this is my very first post. I have had a new Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T i137 for one week and was really liking it so far as I had been using an iPhone 4 for the last 4 yrs or so. Anyway, this morning at work I had to my S4 phone in one of my front pant pockets along with only my billfold. I had to bend over and get something off the floor and didn't think about anything breaking but it did, about an hour after I bent over I pulled my phone out to check my email only to find my screen cracked and nothing but greenish lines lighting up across it. NOW I'm back to my iPhone 4 again.

Unfortunately I don't think it is worth the cost of getting the screen replaced. You could go over to swappa.com and get an S4 phone in good or mint condition for 140 to 150 dollars

Thanks, that's what I figured as well. I had never heard of "swappa.com", I'll check that place out, thanks!

I figured that would be the case, I am trying to decide if I want to buy another S4 or start looking for another Android phone but with a metal frame or the such. Maybe a HTC one? Are there others I should consider?

There are so many other phones to consider it's just what you want to spend. HTC one m8 is pretty awesome. Galaxy s5 is a good one too... Expandible memory and you can replace the battery... Or if you want to go large there are the note series phones it just depends upon how you want to utilize the phone

Did you buy it used or was it new? Did you use a credit card to pay for it? I put everything on credit card mostly because it usually doubles the manufacturer's warranty and has a 90 day lost/stolen/damage coverage on new purchases. Hopefully you have the same coverage?

Got it off ebay , "new other" :( It checked out as a "real" Samsung, I don't think anything was wrong with the phone, it's just the fact that I didn't realize just how easy it would be to "flex" the phone when in a pocket along with a leather billfold. It made me sick for a while BUT it was MY fault NOT the sellers. I hate it but it's true.
It was cheap enough that I could have just bought another and then try to figure out which METAL case would be stiff enough so I wouldn't have to be least bit concerned about the Galaxy S4 breaking in my pocket again BUT I can't see having another. I want to get a phone that is stiffer and therefore much harder to flex and twist in my pocket but I'll still get a case and maybe even a metal one. Right now I am looking at the 16gb version of the Moto G 3rd generation. I do not nor will I ever play any games on my phone, I'm in my late 50's and have no interest in that, I only use my phone to "talk" (15% of the time) , text, (30%) check email and Internet (30%) and you tube (25%) I think the Moto G would be good for me because under the plastic back panel there's a metal frame or plate that I think should make the Moto G 3rd gen stiff enough for my use. The ONLY thing I don't like about the Moto G 3rd Gen is the fact it doesn't have an owner replaceable battery, oh and no Micro SD slot .

I paid with PayPal, do you think it would be covered since it broke in my pocket?

Sent PayPal an email two days ago, no reply yet. we'll see but I doubt they'll do anything. It really was my fault so I can't be too upset with anyone but myself. I can say that I feel even thought it was an expensive lesson that I have "learned my lesson" so that much is good I guess.
