For years I had a Google Acct through my Yahoo email, which I had for decades. Everything has been mostly fine, getting new smart phones, syncing through Google via my Yahoo email address. Today I needed another email account for another matter, so I set up a Gmail account. Thought all was well until all my Contacts & Calendar entries are now GONE. I tried going into Chrome to log out of Google, then log into Google with my Yahoo Acct, but it resorts to the Gmail account. Please help.

Did you remove the 'Yahoo' Google account from the phone? You can always check that (and have both addresses logged in) in the Accounts section of your phone's Settings.

If the Yahoo account was removed from the phone, then so are the contacts and phone entries associated with it. But for peace of mind, you should be able to log into that account on Calendar.google.com or your GMail account to check and make sure your events and contacts are still saved in the cloud (and should be restored once the account is added back into the device).

Also check the Calendar/Contact apps to make sure you have selected to display both accounts and the Yahoo one is just not visible.

On the web you should be able to sign out of the default account by tapping the account avatar and selecting Sign Out if you're in GMail.

If I try to login to Google using my old Yahoo email address, I just get a message saying "This account already exists on this device".

If I go to Android Settings / Accounts, the Google Account has the new Gmail address linked to it.

When you go to the Accounts section of the Settings, do you see only one account or both? If both accounts are there, you should see TWO Google entries.

Can you log into your 'Yahoo' account in the Calendar website and still see your events?

In Android Settings / Accounts, I only see one Google account, the Gmail one I made today. The Yahoo accts still appears for Email, Yahoo, and Personal (IMAP).

Something funny happened with the calendar tho. I mostly use Business Calendar app, and there appeared to be no way that it could sync with the Yahoo email Google account, I couldnt find any thing turned off that I could turn on. So then I went to the basic Google calendar app. At first that showed nothing, then a few items showed up, then more & more came up. It looked like the calendar was fully populated, and then I went back to Business Calendar and that also seemed to be fully populated.

So similarly I went to the basic Google contacts app. However that just says "Preparing to sync. This may take awhile. No contacts yet." It stays like this unfortunately.

Yeah, Business Calendar only pulls data from your local calendar storage.

If you don't see the Google Account (with the Yahoo email) in the Account section, however, it is not being recognized as added in the phone. You could log into your Google account (again, with the Yahoo account) and log out of devices. That might allow you to re-add the account to your phone if for some reason it got 'stuck'.

After I login to my Google acct using my Yahoo email address, it immediately referrs to itself as the Gmail address.

How do u log out of devices?
Again in contacts.google.com in the browser everything shows up. But in the Google Contacts app, nothing shows up.

I had a secondary reserve phone logged in, twice. My current phone was logged in twice. I logged out of all, but it wouldnt allow me to log out of my current device from within the security section.

BTW I rebooted the phone earlier and Business Calendar is messing up although the Google calendar app shows everything correctly.

After logging out of all but the current device, which it cant log out from. It seems to be the same old problem tho. I hope this can be solved. This is terrible.

Which phone do you have?

Try this -- Go to Settings>Accounts, select the Google account (that doesn't have any contacts associated with it), then tap Menu>Remove Account. Next, select Add Account, select Google as the type of account, and enter the Yahoo address that's associated with all of your contacts. Does that account now become the primary account on the phone?

B Diddy I did that MANY times and no, no matter how many times I removed the Goodle Gmail from the phone, each time I logged into Google using the Yahoo address, the Gmail account would then immediately appear as the Google account. So I just got fed up and deleted the Gmail acct (not my Google acct) I just created. It is no more. I logged into Google again with my Yahoo address and ONLINE though CHROME and in the settings, all appears like it used to. In Chrome under Google Calendar & Contacts all appears the same as it did before this problem. ALL of my Calendar apps appear ok, HOWEVER all of my Contacts apps, including Google Contacts, show nothing. This terribly affects my texting, calling, and voicemail app. Looks like I am almost there but the worst part of the problem continues. Please help.

Sorry, I don't mean to be repetitive, but I just want to make sure -- when you say you "removed the Google Gmail from the phone," you mean that you went to the Accounts menu in the system settings (not in the Email app) and removed the Google account there? When you say you removed the Google Gmail from the phone, it just makes me think that you're removing the Gmail account from the stock Email app only.

Assuming you've associated the Google account (that uses that Yahoo email address) as the primary Google account on the phone, go to System Settings>Accounts, then tap that Google account. Is the Contacts sync toggle turned on?

I deleted my Gmail account in Chrome. I never touched the Gmail app recently. The few times I used the Gmail app previously it seemed to interface with my Yahoo email. Yes, sync was on. I toggled it on & off & on many times.

This morning I had the same problem... BUT just about an hour ago, all 995 of my contacts came back again. I have no idea how they came back, but all 995 went on a 4 day vacation from my phone, and I have no idea what happened.

I deleted my Gmail account in Chrome.

Ok, but that's not the same as removing the Google account from the phone's Account menu in the system settings. Swipe down the notification panel, tap the gear icon there (to get to the system settings), then Accounts. That's where you need to remove the problem account, and then add your Yahoo-based Google account.

But if all of your contacts are showing, then it's probably better to leave well enough alone!;)
