Hancom vs. Microsoft for DeX Office Suite

I've been using DeX mostly for web-surfing and basic personal organization, but plan to start a project involving spreadsheets and writing of documents. I downloaded by Microsoft and Hancom's applications as they are both "DeX Compatible," but not sure I understand what the model is for Microsoft. Do I take it that you have to subscribe to their cloud service to be able to use the apps? Anyone try Hancom and have thoughts?

Old thread, but for the benefit of others, for 10" screens and above (Tab S4 as an example) , you need to subscribe to Office 365. Hancom is free, so are a number of office suites. I used Hancom on my Note Pro 12.2 for work in the 2014-2016 timeframe and it worked good enough for me.
