Handscent question....

Pardon my noob question but I just downloaded Handscent. I receive texts via Handscent AND via the stock messaging app. Is there a way to make Handscent the default without getting 2 messages every time?

Open the message app, then settings, and unclick the notification. It will no longer send notifications.

But there isn't anyway to shut off the stock texting app correct? So you will have potentially hundreds of texts sitting in it unless you delete them?

I don't have hundreds on mine. there's another little box to check that prevents messages from going there...just look at it.

Both apps use the same database. If you clear messages out in handcent, they disappear from the stock app.

Handcent is not a real sms app!!!!! it can not send or receive SMS. It is a "skin" that gives the user a better interface and more options.

the built in SMS app that came with the phone.. is the one and only working sms engine!!!! so... there is only one database of text messages... Handcent and other SMS apps you get from the market only display the same messages to you.

in the "real" sms app.. you can set the number of text it will keep for EACH contact/conversation. it is default to 200 per. you can change that if you wish.

notifications in the Real app can be turned off.. with in the settings of the real app.
