Hang up on people with my face

I have had this problem too. No screen protector. It usually happens when I call my office and have to dial an extension. So what I do is, I hide the keypad once I dialed that extension. If I forget, then i am constantly pressing keys while im in a conversation. My phone tends to dial out after I have finished a phone call and put it down. It calls on its own.

Or Just wanted to give another update, after swapping out my g2 about a month and a half ago I haven't had the issue at all, so if you're having problems with the phone ganging up on people or hitting random buttons when its up against your ear, its likely a defective unit.

One way I could tell on my old g2 was by holding the phone up to my forehead so I could see the screen. When I did this and moved the phone ever so slightly I could see the screen light up and then go black and then light up again.

Hope this helps

I called t-mobile today and they told me they never heard of this issue. So what they made me do is a hard reset. Im gonna give them the benefit of the doubt. But they said if it didnt work they would send me another one.

G2 hanging up constantly

I received my 2nd phone last week. Just changed my sim card today and have been hanging up on people. Getting really frustrated. I'm going to call T-mobile again to see what the problem is.

I do have a screen protector on. When I make calls with headset - I don't have problems. But for the amount of money I paid for this phone - it should work.
I'll try the app that was recommended.

When I initially had the issue I tried to call Tmo and the lady told me there is nothing wrong with my phone, and that this is how touch screens are. She said her boyfriend has a touch screen phone and he puts her on mute all the time...

My previous phone was a G1 (obviously a touchscreen phone) and I never had any issues...

She refused to let me RMA the phone, so that's when I decided to go in to the Tmo store. They were much more helpful in the store :)

I have this problem all the time. It comes from when I'm using the phone instead of a headset and have to put it between my ear and shoulder. This exposes the light sensor and that is when I do most of my ear dialing. What I've done to prevent this is just press the home button after I start the call and then press the sleep button at the top. This way if I put it on my shoulder it doesn't bring the buttons up and I don't do any ear dialing on conference calls accidentally.

I have had the same issue on my Samsung S4. I would like to know if there is a proximity setting or something that can be be set to stop this.

This is an old thread, but I just wanted to mention that it helped with my new LG G3 which was face button pushing. I d/l'd the Cheeky app and voila. No more problems :)

Omh i have been having the same problem all you have to do is go to the page where it gives the option to dial call log or Contacts Go to call settings and turn on your Proximity sensor and problem solved.

Alright I went to the T-mo store today to see if my G2 was defective, The rep and I played with my phone and the demo phone, and the demo phone worked fine, my phone obviously has a problem.

What I think the problem might be however is the screen protector I was using. I was using the T-mobile anit-smear protector.

I think this protector refracts the light differently, and causes light to hit the sensor from angles that it shouldn't.

This is my theory because on my g2 with the protector I can not see the sensor at all, however at the store I could easily see the sensor on the demo G2.

I removed my screen protector and installed a new one (this time from phantom skinz) that has a cut out for the sensor.

I'm going to try it out tomorrow and I'll let everyone know if its working fine now or not.
