Hanging on the update

I started the update, and my phone's been sitting there with the blank screen (except for the little Android guy and the "!" sign) for over 20 minutes. It doesn't actually take this long, does it? My phone was rooted - is this causing a problem with the update?

I'm afraid to turn the thing off - help!

You need to unroot and try again.

It could be the root. Did you unlock your phone (S-OFF)?
