hangout load messages and SMS very slow

I do not know why Hangouts load and show messages and SMS very slowly and it take long time to load it.for example I must wait for load one message or SMS

I've noticed the same thing lately. very annoying, especially when some of your responses are fairly important. you end up sending 2 or 3 before you realize the first hadn't sent and now you don't know what order they will go in. im sure Google will resolve it soon enough.

I had the same issue on my S4 --> messages loading slowly and keyboard not even popping up when I tapped the text field.

What fixed it for my was to go to settings -> App manager -> find the hangouts app in the list -> clear cache

I had 81 mb in cache (which is like twice the size of the app) and every thing got much faster (instant) after.

Oh wow, that helped a ton! I had 1.8gb in my cache... You can only imagine how slow it was.
