Hangouts for sms or stock sms?

Anyone know what works better as it pertains to battery life? Does hangouts draw more battery? Anyone have experience with it?

I like how sms is merged on hangouts but use whatever gets me more juice.

I can't answer your power consumption use, but I much prefer the stock message app because it can running in its own window with another program like a calendar running in another window to make life a bit easier and use one the main reasons to own a Note.

Does Hangouts work better with group text messages? With the stock app, which is what I use, it's hard to confirm which Contacts are part of the Group text message...
